The Duchess of Kent
The Duchess of Kent House is a 36-bedded residential unit for people experiencing the early to moderate stages of dementia. It offers resident’s person-centred care focusing on respect for the individual and involving them in decisions which impact on their lives.
Each resident is cared for in single rooms with their own toilet and we encourage them to bring in photographs, ornaments etc. to personalise their rooms and promote a home from home atmosphere.
The home has a well equipped Snoezelen room where we can take our residents to relax within a calming environment, and make regular use of our sensory garden; either by viewing it from our large conservatory or enjoying it close at hand in the fresh air. For those who enjoy regular outings we have our own minibus and a dedicated activity team who plan a variety of social activities.
