King Edward VII Hospital
Also located in the parish of Castel, around 1.5 miles from St Peter Port, is the 100-bed King Edward VII - providing rehabilitation, continuing care and day-hospital services for patients with physical needs, primarily in the 55+ age group.
Within a friendly and homely environment, a multi-disciplinary team of 118 are responsible for staffing four wards - and a day unit serving around 20 patients daily.
Allan Grut ward has 24 rehabilitation beds; while Kinnersly, Saward and Giffard provide continuing care for the elderly and incapacitated.
Again, the approach is holistic - with an Activities team organising a range of events and outings designed to enhance the lives of long-term clients. Among the most popular activities are sports, writing, gardening, keep fit, sing-alongs, fireworks, cinema, shopping, the aquarium and watching sunsets.
