Health Visiting
Health visitors and staff nurses provide a comprehensive service to children under five and their families dealing with developmental screenings for children, healthy living advice, post natal depression screening and support.We also offer help and support with domestic abuse, parenting issues and children’s behaviour and breastfeeding support and any other health matters that arise within families. A health visitor and staff nurse are also responsible for contact tracing and screening in cases of Tuberculosis.
School Nursing Services
Working with all schools and colleges on the island, our School Nursing service provides health screening, drop-in sessions and healthy lifestyle teaching for pupils and students and an enuresis advisory clinic. The nurses each work with a secondary school and its infant/junior feeder schools to ensure continuity of care.
The Children’s Community Nurse delivers care at home for children recently discharged from hospital, including those treated in the UK. She specialises in asthma care, helping asthmatic children manage their condition within the community and thereby reducing hospital admissions.
