Becky Chapman

Staff Nurse
Accident & Emergency, Princess Elizabeth Hospital

“Come to Guernsey if you want a quieter life - and great summers.”

Becky knows the island like a local. In fact, she lived here from the age of 10, when her family moved from Humberside. Although she went back to the mainland to university - then worked in hospitals in Oxford and New Zealand - she returned to Guernsey in the Summer of 2004.

“I’ve just gained my full residential licence, which is great - especially as my boyfriend James, who’s also a nurse, has moved from England too.”

“One good thing about working here is that you have time to care for patients properly. It sometimes gets busy, but you’re never rushed off your feet or made to feel guilty for taking a tea-break.”

Becky praises the management skills of her Ward Sister and believes that everyone in the team feels appreciated.

“Best of all, A&E is fully equipped and well funded. If people need a scan or x-ray, the waiting time is 20-30 minutes, not hours or days.”
