Radiology
Imaging and innovation
Continually updating and modernising our service, we pride ourselves on having the very latest, state-of-the-art imaging equipment. Recent innovations include a Radiology Information System (RIS), Computed Radiography (CR) and a Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) - all of which have been well-received by the wider medical community.
Our 40-strong team ranges from portering, clerical and support staff to nursing sisters and radiographers at all levels - senior grades, superintendents and specialist radiographers and 3 consultant radiologists. We offer a 24-hour cover for CT, general radiography, theatre and mobile imaging, using modern Siemens equipment.
Specialised departments provide various services using advanced equipment:
- Our CT scanner is a Somatom 4, tele-linked to the Neurology unit in Southampton.
- Ultrasound provides a full service from general to muscular skeletal and vascular using the latest Toshiba equipment.
- Nuclear Medicine uses a Siemens E-cam dual-headed camera to conduct diagnostic testing, with radiopharmaceuticals prepared daily onsite.
- A Siemens Fluoroscopy suite carries out a variety of examinations, ranging from barium studies to angiography and stent insertion.
- Our Breast unit runs screening, symptomatic and prosthetic services.
- Our satellite hospital on Alderney has a dedicated Radiology room, utilising CR, PACS and Ultrasound on a sessional basis.
